Our annual Reflections Art Contest is coming!

INFORMATION FLYER

STUDENT ENTRY FORM

From the Texas PTA: Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for 50 years.

Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.

With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story.

Started in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, then Colorado PTA President, Reflections has grown to be one of the largest nationwide programs of its kind, with more than 200,000 students participating annually.

Thank you to Deepa Shenoy for volunteering to coordinate this contest at Andrews.

We collect Box Tops!

If you see this symbol on items you purchase, please clip them and send them with your child to school (make sure they are not expired). It may be easiest to save them for a week or so before sending them in. Be sure to place them in a plastic ziploc bag to prevent them from getting lost. Thank you!

From Debbie Ernst, VP of Membership at Andrews -

"VOICE FOR EVERY CHILD" AWARD

This is Texas PTA’s most prestigious Membership Award for Local PTAs that strive to have one voice for every child on their campus.

Platinum: Recruit members equal to at least 100% of school student enrollment.

Thank you to all of the Andrews PTA parents that have joined Andrews PTA this year!  We have achieved a “Voice for every Child” award, thanks in part to 100% of the Faculty and Staff at Andrews joining the Andrews PTA.

I would like to also encourage those of you who have not yet joined to join so that we can reach “One Parent Voice for Every Child” at Andrews!

Thank you to all of the Andrews families and staff that came out to Chipotle for our first Spirit Night fundraiser of the year! We were able to raise $1,031 (our 50% of the proceeds) for the PTA. Special thanks to Andrea Lise Suriano for organizing this event.

Thank you to all of the students who signed up for Chess Classes after school. For the first time, the Beginner's Chess class was completely full! Thank you to Chompoo Sirisawat for helping to bring Chess to our school!

We loved seeing all of our Parents and Guardians get together for the "Welcome Back Coffee and Donuts." Thank you so much for attending! We appreciate our Hospitality team of Rebecca Anderson and Molly Gilliland for hosting this event.

We caught the Dads Club in action September 7th as they helped students out of their cars during morning dropoff!

Thank you to these volunteers for their time, and for Tony Orchard for organizing.

What is PTA? Why Join PTA?

The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages:

Get Connected

There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.

Discover Great Resources

The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents (Parent Education Seminars) as well as students (Assemblies, Author Visits, Red Ribbon Week motivational speakers).

Tap into a Network

PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. YOU can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.  YOU can help make the school a better place!

Watch Yourself Grow

By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.

Speak Up

PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.

Witness Improvement

By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role by supporting building improvements through advocacy and play an important role in fundraising for curriculum based programs and social events.

Be a Role Model

By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.

Enjoy Substantial Benefits

Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.

For less than 3 cents a day, you can become a PTA member, joining more than 4 million other people who share your interest in issues affecting children. Everyone—parents, educators, students and other citizens active in their schools and communities—is invited to join our not-for-profit parent association.
