The Texas PTA Honorary Life Member Award and Texas PTA Extended Service Award are prestigious honors to bestow on a deserving individual who has supported Andrews PTA in our mission of making every child's potential a reality.

If you would like to nominate a teacher, staff member, parent, or a member of our community to be considered for an Honorary Texas Life Member award, please print out and complete the Life Member Nomination form” and return it to the school front office by Friday, January 25, 2019, in a sealed envelope marked “Life Member”.

Alternatively, you may fill out our online submission form:

While a member of your PTA CommYOUnity may receive multiple Texas PTA Honorary Life Member and Extended Service Awards, they should not receive more than one from the same PTA. When selecting a candidate to nominate, please check the list below to see if they may havbe already been awarded Life Membership at Andrews:

Interested in getting involved?  There are positions open on the Life Membership Committee to help publicize the request for nominations, review nominations, order the awards, and plan for notification of award recipients.

Since 1909, the Texas PTA has made available the Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership as one of the highest honors presented to individuals for outstanding service to children and youth. The recipient does not have to be a PTA member nor must the service for which the honor has been bestowed be connected with the PTA. The only requirement for receiving a Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership is that the recipient is making or has made a worthwhile contribution to the well-being of children and youth.

NOTE: Recipients of the Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership are exempt from paying the Texas PTA portion of dues for only one Local PTA of their choice per membership year . If they have received more than one Honorary Life Membership, they may register as a Texas PTA Life Member with as many Local PTAs as they have Honorary Texas PTA Life Memberships. Texas PTA Honorary Life Memberships do not carry with them automatic rights to vote or to hold office in any PTA. In order to participate actively in PTA, an honorary life member must enroll in a Local PTA by paying the local and National PTA dues and having his/her name included on the membership list sent to the Texas PTA Office.

The Reflections Art Contest judging at Andrews is now over and the parents of those entrants who will receive trophies at the school's next assembly have been notified. Entries which qualified to be judged at the Plano ISD council level have been forwarded for further judging.

Thank you to all of the students who participated!

Special thank you to Deepa Shenoy and Rachana Gairola for coordinating the contest this year.

We collect Box Tops!

If you see this symbol on items you purchase, please clip them and send them with your child to school (make sure they are not expired). It may be easiest to save them for a week or so before sending them in. Be sure to place them in a plastic ziploc bag to prevent them from getting lost. Thank you!

What is PTA? Why Join PTA?

The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages:

Get Connected

There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.

Discover Great Resources

The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents (Parent Education Seminars) as well as students (Assemblies, Author Visits, Red Ribbon Week motivational speakers).

Tap into a Network

PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. YOU can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.  YOU can help make the school a better place!

Watch Yourself Grow

By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.

Speak Up

PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.

Witness Improvement

By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role by supporting building improvements through advocacy and play an important role in fundraising for curriculum based programs and social events.

Be a Role Model

By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.

Enjoy Substantial Benefits

Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.

For less than 3 cents a day, you can become a PTA member, joining more than 4 million other people who share your interest in issues affecting children. Everyone—parents, educators, students and other citizens active in their schools and communities—is invited to join our not-for-profit parent association.

Our annual Reflections Art Contest is coming!

Artwork should be submitted between October 28 and

November 1, 2018.

From the Texas PTA: Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for 50 years. Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.

With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story.

Started in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, then Colorado PTA President, Reflections has grown to be one of the largest nationwide programs of its kind, with more than 200,000 students participating annually.

Thank you to Deepa Shenoy for volunteering to coordinate this contest at Andrews.
